Too often, in our culture, we dampen the flame. Edge of Yesterday combines storytelling and creativity to promote creative thinking to make the story their own, intrinsic to the learning process.

Our goal: to encourage curiosity, deepen the drive of discovery and bring greater meaning into learning.

What is Edge of Yesterday?

Edge of Yesterday mixes storytelling and technology to foster learning through story. A cutting-edge teen time travel adventure book series finds its place as an interactive digital learning platform that invites teen engagement through—and beyond—the story.

As a book series, it tells the story of Charley Morton, a STEM-smart girl who has learned how to time travel. She is intensely curious. Charley dreams of being able to pursue her many passions, from science to music and from soccer to forensics.

Charley has big dreams to become a modern-day Renaissance girl, like her hero, Leonardo da Vinci. Once she learns how to time travel, her goal is to learn from her Heroes on the Edge to find out the secrets of becoming... everything.

The digital learning platform invites readers to join Charley on her time travel mission to detour through time inviting scientific exploration and engagement for curious teens to spark “stealth” learning through stories, games, puzzles and hands-on engagement. Along the way, teens will meet up with many “heroes”—from Leonardo da Vinci’s Renaissance to the Atomic Age of Albert Einstein and Hedy Lamarr, and from the Enlightenment of Voltaire and Emilie du Chatelet to today’s visionaries and the inventors of tomorrow.

What is the difference between Edge of Yesterday online and the book?

EdgeofYesterday.com is a digital learning platform based on the middle grade Edge of Yesterday book series where teens can engage in learning through story. They can explore the web site to find new ways of learning, building community, and earning badges along the way.

Our aim: to encourage curiosity and creativity by presenting multimedia content that crosses disciplines.

And why time travel? As science writer Hames Cleick, author of Time Travel: A History, notes, The rules of time travel have been written not by scientists but by storytellers.

What do I need to get started?

Your imagination, a smart device, and a bit of time. The opportunities are endless to start in on your own journey through time.

Leonardo's curiosity drove him to learn about anatomy and art, geology and geography, art and architecture. Here's how to harness your own curiosity to find the genius in you!

We invite teens to share original stories, poems, music, drawings, and videos in the Make the Story Yours section of the website. These will be curated and posted on a safe and secure teen-friendly platform.

Educators and parents can access a Teacher's Guide to Edge of Yesterday, background on the facts and fiction of time travel, and the science behind it.

Who created Edge of Yesterday?

Edge of Yesterday is the first interactive read-and-learn platform for teen engagement from EOY Media. Created by Robin Stevens Payes, Edge of Yesterday (EOY) is a digital learning project based on a multimedia teen time-travel adventure series.

Through story, our mission is to inspire young people to pursue their dreams and blaze new pathways for learning, discovery, and innovation.

Robin, who specializes in science and education writing, is proud to have successfully raised three kids through their teens—and lived to tell the tale.
